May 26, 2011 - PRLog -- Team WFR are looking forward to focusing on matters on the track rather than off it as we head to Thruxton this weekend for Round 4 of the BSB Evo Championship. It has been a difficult two weeks for everyone involved following the last round at Croft which saw the exit of star rider Alex Lowes from the team.

Senior personnel at WFR have been in conversation with riders from the UK, Europe and further afield about filling the seat on the team’s third Fireblade for the remaining rounds of the Evo Championship. There has been a mixture of well known and experienced riders and also up and coming young riders who have expressed an interest in riding but in the interim it was important to get somebody on the bike at Thruxton.

With that in mind the team held a test day for several riders at Donington Park on Wednesday whilst Graeme Gowland was also given an opportunity to get some more time on the bike as he returns from injury following his high speed crash in the first round at Brands Hatch. The other two riders in attendance were Jimmy Storrar and Kieran Clarke who were both in the running to ride the bike at Thruxton.

However, things didn’t quite go to plan as Storrar suffered a big crash at Craner Curves which resulted in significant damage. Fortunately Jimmy was okay but with the bike sustaining severe damage it will not be repaired in time for Thurxton as the truck will leave first thing Thursday morning. This means Team WFR will once again be running a two rider team down in Hampshire with Graeme Gowland set for a return to action alongside Glen Richards.

Team Manager Myles Schofield said; “It’s a shame for the two lads who were out there today as now neither of them will be on the bike at Thruxton but for the team it will be business as usual. We have been running two riders at every round bar the first so this weekend will be the same, it will just be a different pairing.

“There has been a lot of things said about the team in the last two weeks but I know what sort of operation we are running here. It’s a professional workshop with two busy and thriving teams working hard to bring success on the race track and we are looking forward to getting back to what we do best this weekend – racing.”
