ParetoLogic Staff and Execs Raise over Ten Thousand for Power to Be Charity

May 25, 2011 - PRLog -- Saturday, May 14 in Victoria was a day for smiles and celebration, despite the mud, rain and cold. ParetoLogic representatives, including the co-founding Pereira brothers, participated in a grueling series of challenges – the Power to Play Competition. The event capped off an ongoing fundraising effort for Power to Be, and pushed participants to their physical limits: pulling a cargo trailer by hand was just one event in the four-hour competition.  

“I thought it couldn’t get any tougher than flipping a huge tire up a hill,” said Adrian Pereira, ParetoLogic Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer, and participant in Saturday’s challenge. “But I have to say that crawling on my belly through a foot of mud might have topped it. All for a great cause, of course.”

Just two months ago, ParetoLogic announced their intentions to raise $10,000 among their staff fundraising activities and corporate donations. Since then, staff and executives raised money through donations to “pie” managers, bake sales, draws, and even a jump into the freezing Selkirk waterway by Co-founder, President, and CEO Elton Pereira. The result: $10,027 successfully raised, the largest donation of any company participating in Power to Be’s recent fundraising drive.

Power to Be offers a outdoor adventure activities for youth from underprivileged backgrounds and individuals with a variety of disabilities. Their programs allow participants to learn new skills, meet people, and have fun in the great outdoors. By providing access to nature activities, Power to Be will give 650 families this year life experiences that would otherwise not be possible.

“Power to Be focuses on the very real needs of the disabled and of underprivileged youth,” said Pereira. “Without Power to Be, they wouldn’t be able to experience these kinds of excellent outdoor activities, and we are happy to support them.”
