Connect Your Home Donates Shoes For Japan Earthquake Relief Effort

May 24, 2011 - PRLog -- Connect Your Home, a leader in providing consumers with affordable home services, recently rallied employees and the local community to participate in donating new or gently worn shoes to help those in need after the earthquakes and tsunamis in Japan earlier this year. With the help of the local Santa Ana and Irvine communities, Connect Your Home donated over 250 pairs of shoes to the charity Soles4Souls which transported the donation directly to those affected by the natural disasters in Japan.

Connect Your Home chose to donate the shoes through Soles4Souls because of the organization’s mission to “procure shoes for those in need,” seeing as the charity was founded after Southeast Asia suffered through a tsunami in 2004. Connect Your Home collected new and gently worn shoes for three weeks and dropped the shoes off at a local Soles4Souls donation center, where they were then shipped to Japan.

“Donating shoes to help provide aide to Japan’s disaster relief efforts after the earthquakes and tsunamis that shook the country was something important to our employees here. We wanted to help in any way we could,” said Lindsay Ross, director of human resources and organizer of the in-house donation project at Connect Your Home. “We look forward to providing our support to other causes in the future.”

In addition to the Soles4Souls donation, Connect Your Home has helped raise money for other charitable organizations through its Cause Donation Program. Both the Susan G. Komen Foundation and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation have partnered with Connect Your Home in the past to help raise awareness and funds for each cause. Connect Your Home raised a total of $1,650 towards breast cancer research during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, 2010 and is looking to raise even more money with extended marketing efforts during National Cystic Fibrosis Month.
