May 24, 2011 - PRLog -- The festival, run by non-profit organisation MARLENS, takes place every year and offers something for the whole family. It also provides the opportunity for the community to enjoy the lake and celebrate its existence.

The festival has grown in popularity, year by year, and the bustling ‘village street’ of stalls is a key feature. Local charities and community organisations are invited to come and show what they have to offer completely free of charge.

Commercial stalls are also welcome at the event but will be charged £25 per day.

Joe Norman, chair of MARLENS said: “We are looking for anybody who has a stall or attraction and wants to be included at the event. This can be anything from a coconut shy to a rollercoaster!

“This will be the seventh Marine Lake Festival and it is expected to be the best yet. The community really gets behind us every year, and the feedback we’ve had so far says everyone is really excited about the event.”

The festival will feature some of the best-loved attractions from previous years, including active events for the whole family to take part in, activities and shows on the lake itself and a mini-music festival across the weekend.

More details of events and activities at the festival are due to be announced by organisers soon.

The Marine Lake was built in 1929 as a major leisure facility for Clevedon and continues to be a wonderful asset and historic focus for the local community, as well as being in regular use for teaching sailing and canoe skills to local youngsters.

Joe continued: “Clevedon is so diverse and we have such a lot to offer, so we would like to give the opportunity to do that.”

If you are a member of the community and have something you would like to showcase, stalls are free. To book a space contact Carol Price on 01275 874766 or at pricecarol@yahoo.co.uk
