An artist living in Cornwall has claimed that an image which appeared on a well known site in the area was created by the famous elusive graffiti artist, Banksy.  A stencilled image of a black and white cat was discovered by a local man in the coastal resort of Portreath, and is believed to be a genuine piece of Banksy artwork. The image was found on the wall facing the sea of the old huer's hut, commonly known as ‘Pepper Pot’.

The debate continues

The Cornish man publicly expressed his admiration for both the Banksy artwork and the artist himself ‘I'm not sure what it says or why it's there but it's a wonderful little pussycat.’ And ‘I do love the way Banksy remains so mysterious. No one can really speculate who it is.’

The artist snapped a picture of the image and uploaded it onto a famous social networking site to find out whether others thought the image was a genuine Banksy.  Others were somewhat less convinced that the image was genuine, despite it bearing all of the hallmarks of a typical Banksy piece.
