Central Ohio Retirement Community and Health Center Awarded Highest Ranking in the State

May 24, 2011 - PRLog -- Wesley Glen Retirement Community and parent company, Methodist ElderCare Services, was recently recognized state-wide by the Ohio Department of Health, and nationally by Medicare for providing quality housing, health care, and services to older adults in Central Ohio. Methodist ElderCare Services also readily agreed to undergo a rigorous process carried out by the United Methodist Association of Health and Welfare Ministries that measured quality and integrity of their retirement communities and health centers. Methodist ElderCare Services received an EAGLE accreditation, widely regarded as a “Seal of Approval.”

A tradition of excellence continues for Wesley Glen. The nearly 400-resident retirement community has served north Columbus since 1969. As Wesley Glen celebrates more than 40 years of service to older adults, residents and their families take comfort in knowing the community and its health center have received the highest rankings possible by three different organizations.

Nationally: The Health Center at Wesley Glen is rated on a national level by the Five-Star Quality Rating System developed by Medicare and just received a rating that places the Health Center in the top 1% in the country (http://www.medicare.gov). The Health Center is one of only two centers in Ohio to receive a 'perfect' Five-Star score. The other facility is in Cleveland. Medicare created this rating system to help consumers, their families, and caregivers compare nursing facilities. The ratings are taken from health inspections, staffing levels, and quality measures.

State-wide: The Ohio Department of Health conducts yearly evaluations of each retirement community in the state. These evaluations are the only source of information from a trained team of objective
surveyors who investigate quality of care, inspect medical records, and talk with residents. The Health Center at Wesley Glen received the highest marks possible. “A 'perfect' survey in the Health Center at Wesley Glen indicates a genuine interest in self-evaluation, a drive for improvement, and an assurance of quality and integrity,” states Methodist ElderCare Services CEO Peg Carmany. As of 2010, the Assisted Living and Special Care areas at both Wesley Glen and Wesley Ridge have received the highest rating of "zero deficiencies" for 14 straight years.

Self-evaluation: Methodist ElderCare Services received the EAGLE accreditation from the United Methodist Association of Health and Welfare Ministries. The rating process measures quality and integrity and is voluntary. An EAGLE accreditation is considered the top recognition and a “seal of approval.”

Life Center Adult Day Services (located at Wesley Ridge and Reynoldsburg United Methodist Church)~ an adult day care program that provides an individualized plan of daytime care for senior adults.

Wesley Hills~ a condominium community in Lancaster, Ohio.
