Servite is a significant housing provider with over 1800 properties ranging from Fife to Inverness, with their sheltered housing centres providing around half of that total. Tenant numbers in each sheltered location range from a few to more than fifty.
Contracts Manager Harry Smith said: "When we studied our communal laundry provision, we realised we could improve on the way in which we had been replacing washers and driers."
"So we made it our objective to replace and maintain laundry equipment in a controlled, cost effective manner whilst maintaining a consistent, greater level of service."
Servite entered into an eight-year contract with laundry specialists JLA Ltd., using the Procurement for Housing process, with the OTEX Refresh facility as part of the package.
Harry continued: "We now have an increased service with less downtime and our costs are fixed, while the OTEX Refresh helps clean the machines and eliminate the chances of infection. It also ensures that we are planning ahead to meet future regulations over the life of the contract."
Irene Handy, Manager at Servite’s Martingale Gardens scheme in Dundee, said that the new system gave greater peace of mind, adding: "In any communal environment it’s good to use a system which helps to improve hygiene."
