iPhone 5 - With a curved glass front? MacEmergency asks...

May 23, 2011 - PRLog -- If you look at flat displays like monitors, it has always been thought that you have a better viewing quality - Rather then using curved glass regardless of the fundamental display technology behind it.

Until now the glass cover manufacturers prove unwilling to commit investment in the required glass cutting equipment and this is deemed to be due to the hefty price tag involved. However now it seems that Apple have purchased a number of these machines, and it seems on behalf of the manufacturers – these silicon cutting machines are to be used by glass makers are currently being stored at associated assembly plants.

So what is behind Apple’s idea of curved glass? They have used this method before with the likes of the iPod Nano. But never explored this idea any further with the later generation.

Other companies have explored the curved glass screen before like Samsung. As they believed it would enhance the comfort and experience of the user.

Could it really be that Apple have yet to finalize perfection regarding the idea of curved glass? And that the idea to make one-handed control more straightforward on mobile devices is not yet feasible? Or is there an underlying issue that only Apple have realised?

Some are contemplating this may be a move nearer towards a 3D screen not requiring 3D specs…

Would we really like a complete new feature like curved glass on the iPhone 5. Or do we prefer for the design to be more in keep with the iPhone 4? Will we see a curved screen on Mac models such as the MacBook or MacBook Pro or maybe even the iMac?

As ever, and in the true Apple manner we have come to expect – the majority of us thrive on the uncertainty and excitement..   and anyhow, anything is possible… It’s Apple after all!
