"Killer" Accepts Cavuto's Challenge - Face Him in Fox Studio

May 23, 2011 - PRLog -- Neil Cavuto reportedly "lost it" when debating a public interest lawyer who said he's like to legally kill off Ronald McDonald, just as he helped kill off Joe Camel with litigation, as he told his opponent, who's been dubbed the "Ralph Nader of Junk Food" as well a "Major Crusader Against Big Tobacco and Now Among Those Targeting the Food Industry," that he (Cavuto) would arrest Banzhaf if he were in his studio. http://www.newshounds.us/2011/05/20/cavuto_loses_it_with_mcdonalds_food_police_advocate.php

So Law Professor John Banzhaf, the "Man Who Is Taking Fat to Court," has accepted Cavuto's challenge, and has agreed to meet him face-to-face in his TV studio if he wishes to try making an arrest, or simply continue the debate which got somewhat one sided when Cavuto accused the activist behind two law suits against McDonald's of trying to put "tens of thousands of people out of work." Prof. Banzhaf's initial law suit against McDonald's - only the first of ten successful fat law suits he inspired - did cost the fast food giant over $12 million to settle, but it didn't put anyone out of work.

As News Hounds reported it all: "Neil Cavuto pretty much shouted his way through about seven minutes of what passes for 'debate' on Fox – this time about efforts to retire Ronald McDonald. Unfortunately for Cavuto, his guest, law professor John Banzhaf, who is behind the effort, kept his cool and even confronted Cavuto on his tactics of 'stupid hypotheticals.' Unable to intimidate his guest, Cavuto resorted to shouting and suggesting Banzhaf deserved to be arrested. Cavuto even told his guest, 'Ronald McDonald loathes you.'" http://foxnewswatchdog.com/?p=28686

RawReplay saw Cavuto's on-air breakdown similarly: "The Fox News conservative opinion host Neil Cavuto engaged in a bizarre shouting match with a law professor he called part of the 'food police,' over a push to convince lawmakers to ban the fast food mascot Ronald McDonald. GWU School of Law professor John Banzhaf suggested the clown hamburger purveyor should be banned from advertising, much in the way lawmakers banned the cigarette mascot Joe Camel. Cavuto nearly exploded at the suggestion and accused Banzhaf of wanting to see tens of thousands of American jobs lost, in a bizarre segment that must be seen to be believed." http://www.rawstory.com/rawreplay/2011/05/fox-opinion-hos...

Banzhaf is no stranger to real or threatened violence on TV talk shows. He was the subject of both a battery and an assault by an irate cigar smoker on a national TV talk show, with the images later re-broadcast around the world. He was threatened with physical violence by Morton Downey at a time when the infamous talk show host ["Mort the Mouth"] smoked five packs of cigarettes a day, and mocked many of his guests by blowing smoke in their faces.

Banzhaf was also threatened with arrest by McDonald's in the shopping mall area of DC's National Press Building, barred from the McDonald's outlet in Arlington, VA, where he filmed scenes from the award-winning movie "Super Size Me" (which he inspired and appeared in), and has been the recipient of death threats.

Time magazine summarized Banzhaf's views with this telling quote: "'Ronald McDonald is a big fat liability to a company which lures children into eating too much big fat food … It's like having Joe Camel teach children that they can smoke if only they don't inhale.' John Banzhaf, a public interest lawyer who has filed suits to battle smoking and obesity." http://money.blogs.time.com/2011/05/20/insane-clown-contr...
