May 22, 2011 - PRLog -- Four art class scholarships for low-income students are being offered as a result of Saturday night’s “Art and Jazz” event at the Veterans’ Memorial Hall. Funding is being supplied by Julian Waterfall Pollack and from proceeds of the silent art auction held at the performance-packed evening.

The highly successful event featured dancers from “Dance Red Bluff”; a fiction reading by CSUC’s Rob Davidson; piano jazz improv artist Joe Dynan; and the Julian Waterall Pollack Trio (just back from Germany and currently on a world tour.)

The art scholarships are specifically for “open session” art classes at the Red Bluff Art Gallery for children who might not otherwise be able to afford the classes. Applications for the scholarships are available at the Red Bluff Art Gallery, 601 Walnut street. Classes are taught by Anastasia Nelson, an arts graduate from the University of California, Davis.

“The classes are open to children of all ages. Each student can pick the medium they want to work in and experiment in new mediums as well.” Ms. Nelson says, “Art supplies for the classes are provided at no charge.”

Parents who want to apply should phone 529-1332 or stop by the gallery to receive an application. The main qualification is a desire by the student to try their hand at art. Students who are from distressed families, low-income, or unemployed families will be given preference for the four “Julian Waterfall Pollack Art Scholarships”.

The “Art & Jazz” evening was coordinated by local artist Phil Dynan and sponsored by a variety of local business including the Red Bluff Art Gallery, sculptor Jay Murphy, Gumm’s Optical Shoppe, Wild Oak, The Gold Exchange, Kremer Chiropractic, the Antelope Travleodge, the Gaia Hotel, Bob’s Tires, Sky River Music and Debbie McClelland Pet Portraits.
