West Sound Academy Kicks Off Ticket Sales for New Tech & Travel Raffle

May 21, 2011 - PRLog -- West Sound Academy parents and students are at Poulsbo's Viking Fest today manning a sales booth for the school's new fundraiser:  the Tech & Travel Raffle.   Festival goers at Poulsbo's annual celebration for Norway's Constitution Day will be offered the opportunity to purchase tickets and get a chance to win one of a collection of cash, travel, and personal technology prizes. The raffle's Grand Prize is $5,000 in either a travel voucher or cash.

Additional prizes include:
•   Four $3,500 travel vouchers
•   One Apple laptop package, valued at $1,800
•   Five Kindle DX packages, valued at $520
•   Two iPad-2 packages, valued at $1,050
•   Five iPod Touch packages, valued at $330

Raffle tickets are $20.00 each.  The prize drawing takes place on the campus of West Sound Academy at 7:00 p.m. on November 22, 2011.  Raffle participants do not need to be present at the drawing to win.

The Grand Prize and 2nd through 5th prizes are travel vouchers through Leader Travelers NW in Lynnwood, Washington.  The vouchers can be used for multiple travelers to multiple destinations, and are good for two years.  The rest of the prizes are an assortment of popular personal technology devices from Apple and Amazon - reflecting the ultimate goal of the fundraiser.  The school plans to use the proceeds from the raffle to purchase new technology for the school in order to keep up with the demands of the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum for the 11th and 12th grade students, and the pre-IB program in the 6th through 10th grades.  West Sound Academy's shopping list will include additional computers, software, and audio-visual equipment for the school.

Ticket sales begin today at Poulsbo's Viking Fest, and will continue through the summer and early fall.  Teachers and parents will man booths at farmers' markets and various summer festivals, and members of the school's community will be given tickets to sell to family and friends.  This is a new kind of fundraiser for West Sound Academy, which has mainly used annual giving campaigns and auctions in the past to raise additional funds for the school.   Washington State regulators placed many requirements on WSA administrators before the raffle was allowed to begin, all of which are designed to insure the honesty and fairness of the contest.  Barrie Hillman, WSA's Associate Head of School, is thrilled that the raffle has begun. "We have a terrific collection of prizes that should be appealing to a lot of people in our community, " Hillman says.
