May 20, 2011 - PRLog -- Friday, May 20, author and self-publisher, H.M. "Gramps" Bricker came to Clermont Northeastern Elementary School to visit Meg Porter's 3rd grade class. Bricker wrote the story "The Christmas Santa Had No Beard" over 15 years ago but never had his book published and illustrated. In December 2009, his son Mike Bricker, of Batavia, read the manuscript of this story to Meg Porter's class. The children applauded and thoroughly enjoyed it. Mrs. Porter called it "adorable." She then turned to Mike Bricker and said, "This is a superb story! You must have your father publish it." That night Mike Bricker made his father promise to get it finished. This year, "Gramps" Bricker finally self published "The Christmas Santa Had No Beard" and was pleasantly surprised when Barnes and Noble and Borders Books placed his book on pre-sale, although the book's availability is June 20, 2011. The author came from Illinois to thank Meg Porter personally and to read his story to this year's third grade class as well as to Mrs. Tobe's classroom. Bricker presented Meg Porter with the first copy of his new book as a token of his appreciation for her lecture.
