The Purple Hat Project Hosts Three Music Showcases Friday, June 3rd

May 20, 2011 - PRLog -- The Purple Hat Project initiative, in conjunction with Radio Radio, Birdy’s and Talbott Street announced recently that they will be hosting THREE local music showcases on June 3rd in these venues. The showcases are part of the “Paint The Town Purple” event announced earlier by The Purple hat Project.

TICKET INFO: Tickets will be on sale only the day of the show at each venue, and will feature a $2 discount for anyone wearing purple in support of the Purple Hat Project. Radio Radio is located at 1119 Prospect St., Birdys is located at 2131 E. 71st St., and Talbott Street is located (ironically enough) at 2145 N. Talbott Street, all in Indianapolis. All three shows are ages 21+.

The Purple Hat Project started as a result of recent legislation affecting alternative lifestyle couples. Recently a bill passed through the Indiana House of Representatives banning gay marriage, gay adoption, etc. An article was written in the Indiana Business Journal posing the question, "What's next, are we going to make all the gays wear purple hats so we can easily identify them on the streets?"; this concept lead to the inception of the Purple Hat Project.

In an increasingly toxic political, media-driven environment, the Purple Hat Project seeks to simply showcase the many different iterations of love, showing what unifies our community, as others attempt to divide our community. These showcases are another way to show the support that many in our community have for this cause.
