The American Red Cross provides blood for nearly 9 million blood transfusions a year, helps nearly 200 neighborhood emergencies every day, provides communications to nearly 150,000 military families and has provided assistance to more than 3.9 million people effected by International disasters. This is only possible due to the countless donors who make available the nearly 6.5 million pints of blood a year.
“Historically, blood supplies drop to all time lows during the warmer months,” said Gary Marowske, president of Flame, Heating, Cooling, Plumbing & Electrical. “The team at Flame wanted to help make sure that the blood supply in metro Detroiter was in good standing. Several of our members expressed interest in becoming a donor and encouraging others to do the same.”
