The Wrexham "Train Pony" and Hyperlocal News

May 19, 2011 - PRLog -- Wrexham.com is a very new hyperlocal website, but has just seen the power of the internet and hyperlocal news at first hand. On saturday evening a user on a football forum co-run by Wrexham.com's founders mentioned a white horse had been seen at at local pub.

Wrexham.com's Liam Randall used the @wrexhamdotcom account to tweet about this, the first reporting of this to a wider audience. The tweet included a picture and a cheeky joke as well.

From there it has spread as far as Canada and Australia, with google showing 18,200 mentions of the story in the last 7 days and it having full page coverage in national newspapers.

http://www.wrexham.com is a new hyperlocal startup aimed at providing the local community with a decent local website run by real wrexhamites. It will also provide information for those wishing to stay or do business in the area.
