Jeff Gordon Chevrolet Reports First Quarter Sales Up 23% Over Last Year

May 18, 2011 - PRLog -- Chevrolet has released sales data for the first quarter of 2011 that shows increases across the board as a result of increased demand for Chevy cars, trucks and crossovers by the general public.  

Nearly 417,000 Chevrolet vehicles have been sold so far this year, up 23% in total sales over 2010 and retail sales are seeing record-breaking growth as well with a 37% increase in comparison to 2010.

According to Alan Batey, Vice President of the Chevrolet Sales and Service division, these numbers make it clear that Chevrolet is offering,  “compelling vehicles for every customer’s needs,” with models which range from energy efficient Cruze Eco cars to powerful vehicles such as the Camaro, a car which has been bought by approximately 20,000 people so far in 2011 and represents America’s most popular sports vehicle.

According to the Chevrolet data, approximately 148,000 vehicles have been sold in March this year, up 11% over March 2010.  Increased demand is sited for the 18% increase in retail sales of Chevy cars, trucks and crossovers.  

Fuel-efficient vehicles posted a total sales increase of 36% with retail sales growing by 33%.  Even with the economy struggling, full-size utilities and trucks from Chevrolet reported a 25% increase in total sales and a 35% growth in retail sales for the first quarter in 2011.  For the 14th month, the Silverado posted a year-over-year sales increase with a total sales gain of 28% and retail gain of 37%.

The Chevrolet Malibu and the Chevrolet Cruze remain the two most popular Chevy models, with combined sales of nearly 100,000 year to date for 2011.  This means that essentially one of every four Chevrolet cars purchased is either a Cruze or a Malibu.
