May 18, 2011 - PRLog -- Mirador, an all-inclusive life care senior living community opening in June in Corpus Christi, recently welcomed more than 75 future residents and guests to the Solomon Ortiz Center for an exciting and informative event which focused on the many ways to turn the overwhelming task of moving into a simpler, more hassle-free activity.   The Mirador “Spring into Life” Moving Expo was held to help answer all of those daunting questions the act of moving raises.

“The venders that participated were great, and provided our guests with lots of helpful information,” said Cindy Waldron, executive director for Mirador.  “I know our residents are busy preparing for the upcoming opening of Mirador, and the entire staff is here to help make the transition as smooth as possible.”

As Mirador is set to open its doors to its first group of residents next month, many residents are considering how the belongings they’ve accumulated over their lifetime will fit into their new luxury apartment home.  With the help of local vendors, including realtors, estate sale organizers, moving and storage companies and organization specialists, guests were given a wealth of knowledge to help ease their minds.

Enlightening presentations were given on the steps one needs to take to make downsizing as stress-free as possible, ranging from deciding on what artwork and family photos to keep to utilizing floor plans to visualize what furniture will fit in the new home.  As a step towards “rightsizing”, guests were invited to bring in gently used clothing, shoes, appliances and furniture to donate to local charities.  The Salvation Army was on site to accept donations.

“With current population trends, downsizing will become a common theme among older Americans,” said Waldron.  “I believe those that attended the moving expo were introduced to new resources and information that they will be able to put to use to support them during their move.  The feeling in the room was upbeat and positive, and I think many future residents were able to breathe a sigh of relief once they realized how many people are here to help them.”
