asked their 58,000 Facebook fans which languages they would like to see on the menus in their
The responses were extensive, varied and threw up a few surprises as well. Alongside the more
predictable languages such as Spanish, Italian, Polish, Dutch, Russian, Chinese, Welsh, Japanese,
Bengali, Arabic, Urdu, Portuguese, Hindi, French, and German appeared a number of ‘spoofs’ such
as Cockney, Pirate, Geordie, Klingon and -of course- the Queen’s English.
“We were inundated with suggestions, and TranslateMedia, the translation experts, did a great job
to ensure all our menus read beautifully, from German to Geordie! We hope that our efforts went
some way to welcoming all nationalities to London, whilst commemorating such a special occasion”.
