PRLog - May 18, 2011 - LYMINGTON, U.K. -- A picture is worth a thousand words and at the Selous Safari Camp in southern Tanzania, Camp Manager and successful artist, Jenny Hartree hopes to help her budding wildlife photographers capture the once-in-a-lifetime shot. With endangered species, prehistoric landscapes and magical lighting, the Selous Game Reserve guarantees an epic and memorable backdrop.

On hand to offer tips and advice on how to set up the perfect photo by using the correct light, camera settings and lenses, British-born Jenny Hartree has an inherent love of nature and wildlife which exudes through her work and teachings. A semi-finalist numerous times for the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition, Jenny has explored Africa extensively over the past 25 years successfully transferring images captured on film in to detailed pencil drawings. Jenny’s top tips for the amateur photographer include:

•   To get the best wildlife shot, get down as low as possible and onto a level with the subject
•   Look at what’s behind or to the side of you, not just in front
•   Zoom in and zoom out to get a different perspective and to make it look different to the standard wildlife shots you see, abstract close ups can be very powerful

With patient safari guides and comfortable safari vehicles, guests of the Selous Safari Camp are in for a visual treat with spottings of the highly endangered wild dog in the reserve, huge varieties of birdlife and large numbers of elephant, giraffe, lion, zebra, buffalo, hippo and crocodile abound.

In addition to game drives in four-wheel drive vehicles, which are especially adapted for close-up game viewing, the boutique camp boasts boat safaris, walking safaris and overnight bush camping experiences, all of which offer a multitude of unique opportunities to see some of Africa’s most formidable yet attractive animals.

Situated on the shores of Lake Nzerakera, which adjoins the mighty Rufiji River, the Selous Safari Camp is unfenced. Each of the 13 tents boasts a large verandah with uncompromised views of the lake, where guests can relax and snap passing animals without stepping out of their luxury en suite tent.

Luxury travel specialist Scott Dunn (www.scottdunn.com / 020 8682 5070) is offering four nights at the Selous Safari Camp from just £2,345 per person in September and October (a saving of £450). The price includes return flights from Heathrow with British Airways, internal transfers and accommodation on a full-board basis with game viewing drives in open sided 4x4 vehicles, concession and park entrance fees.
