May 18, 2011 - PRLog -- Did you ever wanted to write your autobiography but never had the time to do it? Now you can do it easily with mementonet.com, the social network that sores life histories and biographies.
Mementonet.com is a free archive of personal lives. People can store their pictures, add videos and keep memory records for each year of their lives or only the years they want to remember or to show. In contrast with some other social networks, where ids are unique and one profile is associated to one single email address, in http://www.mementonet.com  users can also document the biography of other people: grand parents, children, heroes, groups of friends, etc. Thus with the same email address a number of different profiles can be created.
The company provided some public profile, giving free access to people who want to contribute. For the moment  public profiles (http://mementonet.com/pg/members/all/) are mainly of fictional characters, but they also ma be extended to profile of real and historical persons.
The aim of Mementonet is to contrast the fast consumerist way of living time. For this reason Mementonet.com created a space where everybody can store memories of their lives, which will be kept with respect across time. Archived data are accessible at any time, and can be set as public or private data to limit their access.
The use of this new site can be really interesting form several point of view. The easiest way is to create a personal page (http://mementonet.com/pg/register/) were to store personal memories, with the possibility to have a glance to the all personal life in a few clicks and remembering what we liked in the past.
Indeed in Mementonet. Picture can be stored as well as videos from youtube. That creates a memory album with all the stuff you may like to remember about your personal history but you cannot always bother to pick up from old boxes, photo albums or the net. It take a while to fill the full profile, but is also a thing that may be done a bit at the time, who cares if it is going to be a slow process?
The second use of Mementonet is to document collective life, like group of friends. Thus profiles can be shared and used to create a common album, rather than a personal album. This is surely a feature that makes this site different from other social networks and can have the double aspect of a public feature (like a blog or facebook) and a private album.
The third aspect, which is also quite interesting, is the possibility of compiling profile for the passed ones. Thus we can allow people who are no more with us to not be forgotten and in a way be known by the rest of the world.
Despite some technical problem that this Elgg based site may have, it is promising and may be a good competitor of other more famous sites. Hopefully the public will help to build this new type of social network, engaging in collaborations and filling the virtually unlimited number of profiles that can be realized. In a few words Mementonet is a biographical archive, the missing link between facebook and wikipedia.
