May 18, 2011 - PRLog -- The Grosvenor team raised funds by undertaking a diverse selection of activities including abseiling the Liver Building; completing the 15-mile Wirral Coastal Walk; a staff bake sale and the gruelling Snowdonia Marathon by horticulturalist, Charles Ashley.

£1000 was raised through the sale of packets of seeds donated by the Garden Centre, together with monies received recently from Grosvenor’s textile recycling bank in conjunction with Dee-tex Project.

Many volunteers have frequently visited Grosvenor throughout the year enabling them to raise awareness of the hospice located in Bebington.  Due to their presence at Grosvenor, Claire House has managed to recruit a number of their customers to join as volunteers.

Providing respite, palliative and end of life care for children with life limiting and life threatening illnesses from Wirral, Merseyside, Cheshire, North Wales and the Isle of Man, Claire House sees more than 160 children each year.

"Support from businesses such as Grosvenor is vital in our quest to raise as much money as possible to make sure we help as many children as possible each year," commented Katie Cartwright, Senior Area Fundraiser, Cheshire.

"To raise such an exceptional amount despite the economic downturn last year is phenomenal and we are delighted to thank Grosvenor and its customers for their generosity," Katie continued.

Ongoing links within the community are integral to Grosvenor’s values and adopting a local charity to support each year presents a focus for its fundraising activities both for staff and customers.

"I am delighted that we have raised this record amount for Claire House during the past 12 months.  It has been a great achievement and I would like to thank all the Grosvenor team that have given their time to support Claire House," said Iain Wylie, managing director.

"It has been clear to us all here at Grosvenor that everyone at the hospice works incredibly hard to play such an important role in supporting children when they, and their families, need it the most and I am delighted to announce that we will continue to support Claire House as our nominated charity throughout 2011," Iain concluded.
