Ellen Darling and M.C. Sungaila Selected as Two of the Top Women Lawyers in 2011

May 17, 2011 - PRLog -- ORANGE COUNTY, CA – Snell & Wilmer is pleased to announce that partners Ellen Darling and M.C. Sungaila have been named in the Daily Journal’s “Top Women Lawyers” for 2011.

The Daily Journal published a special issue on May 11 recognizing 100 women lawyers in the state of California. The list features 75 litigators and 25 corporate or transactional lawyers who played a significant role in California's legal market over the past year.  A reception was also held in honor of the award recipients at the Beverly Hills Hotel the evening of May 10, 2011.

Darling's practice is concentrated in product liability and commercial litigation. She primarily represents manufacturers in product liability litigation involving pharmaceuticals and medical devices.  In addition, Darling represents health care providers and lab companies in medical malpractice cases, and counsels companies regarding Consumer Product Safety Commission reporting requirements.

Sungaila practices appellate law and has successfully briefed and argued appeals raising cutting-edge and core business issues statewide as well as nationally and internationally.  Fortune 500 companies and leading international human rights organizations also have relied on her to help define the scope of the duty to warn sophisticated users of product hazards, overturn multimillion dollar judgments, limit the reach of medical monitoring claims, clarify the standards for interstate enforcement of noncompete agreements, and secure important rights for women worldwide. Sungaila also received an award earlier this year as one of the OC Metro Top 20 Women to Watch in 2011 and will receive the Coastline College Foundation Visionary of the Year honor later this month.
