May 17, 2011 - PRLog -- Celebrity Chef Jesse Brune (Private Chefs of Beverly Hills) will be creating $1.50 meals this week in support of a new campaign to highlight the challenges of extreme poverty faced by a quarter of the world's population, who have to survive on less than $1.50 a day - the amount defined by the World Bank as the "extreme poverty line".

The Cordon Bleu graduate will be doing a live demonstration of meals with a budget of $1.50 at an event aptly titled "Dine Below the Line". The event is part of Live Below the Line Week http://livebelowtheline.com, a worldwide campaign launched by Hugh Jackman recently which is currently running across the US from 16 -20 May where thousands of Americans will be living on $1.50 A Day for 5 Days to raise awareness about the 1.4 Billion People still living in extreme poverty.

"We are thrilled that Jesse Brune has supported Live Below the Line campaign. This week many will be living on $1.50 A day, so being shown some creativity with limited meal plans will help support people participating. It also serves to educate people that whilst doing this challenge is a choice for participants, some people in the world face the reality of living this way, every day. This is something we want to see change in our lifetime."
comments Campaign Manager Anna Reeves.

The event will also be hosted by noted and respected LA philanthropist Michael Dean Shelton, and will feature  a short presentation from Special Guest Filmmaker Chris Temple who traveled through Guatemala for 3 months living on $1 a day, documenting his extraordinary experience.

The event will take place on Thursday 19 May 7.30-9pm at Surfas Test Kitchen, 8777 W Washington Boulevard, Culver City. All are welcome to attend.
