Huhne’s Green Deal to Offer £10,000 to Households and Businesses through the “Golden Rule”

The Green Deal is the centrepiece of the Energy Bill. Coming into effect in 2012 and will fund energy efficiency measures, (up to £10,000) including insulation, heating and lighting, to Britain’s homes and businesses cutting down on energy use.

PRLog - May 17, 2011 - MONKS BROOK, U.K. -- The “Energy Bill” introduced on 8th December 2010 included provisions for the new Green Deal.

The Green Deal is the centrepiece of the Energy Bill. It will come into effect in 2012 and will fund energy efficiency measures, (up to £10,000) including insulation, heating and lighting, to Britain’s homes and businesses without consuming so much energy and wasting so much money.

A spokesperson from Bad Credit Loans 4 You, who specialise in Home Improvement Loans for UK residents ( http://www.bad-credit-loans-4-you.co.uk/bad-credit-home-improvement-loans-bad-credit-loans-home-improvements.html ) stated, “ This scheme is based around a “Golden Rule”, the golden rule is that the property owner will not be able to attach a cost to the property unless the savings of the energy efficient installation is greater than the cost, so in theory, you should only be able to take out the finance if it leaves you better off.”

The customer will repay the fee in small instalments levied on their electricity and heating bills over 25 years

The Government says 14 million homes will benefit.

Energy and Climate Change Secretary Chris Huhne said “The Green Deal is a win-win opportunity for landlords by removing the upfront cost of work to upgrade the property, making it cheaper to run, more environmentally friendly and ultimately more attractive to rent”

"We expect households will be able to install measures worth up to £10,000," Huhne confirmed yesterday.

Homeowners will qualify if their houses can be made more energy efficient and energy costs can be cut, though not all will qualify for the full £10,000.

“The Green Deal Scheme is expected to create between 70,000 and 100,000 jobs and could give a £2.5 billion boost to the economy”, said the Bad Credit Loans 4 You spokesperson

High Street retailers and charities send advisors to houses to identify potential savings, they can then refit the homes, bearing the initial cost.

“The Coalition is aiming to complete energy improvements to 14 million homes by 2020, driving down the cost of family energy bills, protecting consumers against future price rises and making British homes not only greener but warmer and cosier too.

Environment minister Greg Barker is hailing the Green Deal as the greatest Home Improvements drive since the Second World War

Under the new rules, from April 2016 landlords will not be able to refuse "reasonable requests" from tenants, or local authorities acting on behalf of tenants, calling on them to use the Green Deal financing scheme to improve their property.

Also it will be illegal from April 2018 for landlords to rent out a house or business property that has less than an E energy efficiency rating. The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) said the deadline would ensure that at least 682,000 properties will have to be improved.
