May 16, 2011 - PRLog -- MADISON, Wis., May 16, 2011 – The 14th annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure® event will be held Saturday, June 4 on Willow Island at Alliant Energy Center. For 17 years, Ford has shown their commitment as a national sponsor of the Komen Race for the Cure® by dedicating over $110 million to the cause. Beyond raising funds, Ford created over one billion media impressions last year to increase breast cancer awareness and save lives by promoting early detection. More than 75,000 Ford employees have participated in the Race for the Cure® along with thousands of Ford dealers, who have supported local events in their communities.

“Susan G. Komen for the Cure® has impacted many lives and my spouse is a survivor so this is especially close to my heart,” said Bob Hudson of Middleton Ford. “It is my privilege to support Susan G. Komen in as many ways as I can. Ford’s involvement with Race for the Cure® has helped preserve the relationship and continue support of these events through dealers like us.”

“We are grateful for the tremendous support from our sponsors and the participants. Together we are making an impact on our community. Of the net proceeds generated by the Madison Affiliate, 75 percent stays in our service area. The remaining 25 percent goes to the national Susan G. Komen for the Cure® grants program to fund breast cancer research,” said Laura Richards, Development Director of the Madison Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure®.

To enhance the fundraising efforts, a Pink Ribbon Celebration dinner will be held before the Race on June 3 at the Sheraton Madison Hotel. The reception begins at 5:30 P.M. with dinner served at 6:30 P.M. and a program to follow. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased online through the Race Registration at www.komenmadison.org. All silent auction proceeds will go to the Madison Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure®.
