May 16, 2011 - PRLog -- LOS ANGELES — Tony Canzoneri, a partner in the Los Angeles office of McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP (MLA) has been named to the Los Angeles Daily Journal’s list of Top Land-Use Leaders in California for 2011.  The Daily Journal recognized Canzoneri for his leadership on public-private partnerships and real estate developments.

“I really like working with government and the private sector and making things happen,” said Canzoneri.  “I like being a real estate lawyer and being involved with where we live and being involved with where we work.  It’s R-E-A-L.”

In 2010, Canzoneri was lead counsel on The Boulevards at South Bay, a public-private partnership that proposes up to two million square feet of commercial space and 1,550 residential units on 168 acres in the City of Carson, California on what was a former landfill.  Canzoneri also successfully represented and led the processing of an environmental impact report and land use entitlements for Soho House, an internationally-known, members-only club and restaurant located in the penthouse of the Luckman Plaza building at 9200 Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood.  With Canzoneri’s guidance, the developer overcame resistance and achieved approvals for the restaurant and club which is now open and operational.  He assisted the same developer in modifying the city’s outdated parking codes for a 500,000-square-foot office building in downtown Los Angeles.

For more than 35 years, Canzoneri’s practice has focused on sophisticated real estate matters for both private and public sector clients involving all aspects of real estate ownership and development including acquisitions, dispositions, financings, entitlements, leases, residential subdivisions, mixed use projects, and master planned communities. His areas of emphasis include land use, environmental, redevelopment, economic development, distressed real estate workouts, and public-private partnerships.  Canzoneri was the City Attorney and Redevelopment Agency Counsel for the City of Monterey Park from 1986 to 2009 and the former City Attorney and Redevelopment Agency Counsel for the City of Cerritos.
