Primeplus Norfolk Senior Center celebrates artistic talents of older adults in South Hampton Roads

PRLog (Press Release) - May 16, 2011 - Norfolk, Va.  -- Primeplus Norfolk Senior Center is again hosting the Annual Senior ArtFest, June 6 – June 24 at Primeplus Norfolk Senior Center.  Over 250 fabulous works of art from over 80 artists and crafters from South Hampton Roads will be showcased at this event.  The exhibit will include a wonderful array of entries in ceramics, painting, mixed media, pottery, photography, sculpture, woodworking, textiles and much, much more.  

The Opening Reception and Art Sale, which is open to the public, will be held on Thursday, June 9 from 4 - 7 p.m. with entertainment that includes the beautiful sounds of Lynn Ruehlmann performing on Celtic Harp.

ArtFest is open for public viewing and purchase of select art from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day.   Visitors are encouraged to vote in the People’s Choice awards.  Selected items from the People’s Choice awards will be on exhibit from June 27 to July 22.

Primeplus Norfolk Senior Center, serving seniors ages 50+ for over forty years, is located at 7300 Newport Avenue in Norfolk. It is located within the Norfolk Fitness & Wellness Center. They provide opportunities for seniors to learn, grow and participate in activities that meet their social, emotional, physical, intellectual and economic needs. Services include a wide variety of programs for Active Adults as well as our Adult Day Center, which provides services to support families whose loved ones are in need of special assistance including those with Alzheimer’s and/or dementia.
