Director Jetta Amata's Epic Black Gold- Struggle for the Niger Delta screens at Cannes

Black Gold- Struggle for the Niger Delta, a story about one local Niger Delta community's struggle against their own government and a multi-national oil corporation who has plundered their land and destroyed the environment.

May 14, 2011 - PRLog -- Jeta Amata, Ori Ayonmike,  Wilson Ebiye and, Suzanne DeLaurentiis  produced the epic feature film, Black Gold, Struggle for the Niger Delta. Black Gold recently screened at the Cannes Film Festival.  The film, shot entirely in Nigeria, Africa and Los Angeles is based on true events in the volatile oil-rich Niger Delta region of Nigeria.  Black Gold, tells the story of  a Nigerian woman who stands up to unite warring factions and rallies the world to take notice.

Cast members include Billy Zane, Mbong Amat, Vivica Fox, Ken Garcia, Hakeem Kae-Kazim, Sarah Wayne Callies, Erick Roberts, Michael Madsen and Tom Sizemore.

Jeta Amata rose to global prominence when he produced a film/documentary for the BBC, British Broadcasting Corporation in 2003 using his film "Game of Life" as footage for the documentary. His debut film,  "Alexa Affair" at the Berlin film festival in 2004 set him firmly in the minds of Nigerians and the world forever as "our own Nollywood success story:"

Independent film producer Suzanne DeLaurentiis, is known for producing many films such as 10th and wolf, as well as founding the Cinema City International Film Festival.
