May 13, 2011 - PRLog -- RUBICON PUBLISHING RECEIVES ITS SECOND TEXTBOOK EXCELLENCE AWARD FOR INTERFACE SERIES

OAKVILLE, ONTARIO – May 13, 2011 – Rubicon Publishing is proud to announce that they have been awarded a 2011 Textbook Excellence Award in the Elementary and High School Languages and Literature category for Interface.

Interface is a four-volume series that acts as a core English resource for students in Grade 9 and 10. Selections in the Interface student books integrate bold imagery and both classic and contemporary texts in a variety of genres, created by a range of authors from Langston Hughes to Leonardo DiCaprio.

Interface creates what Joan Green, Series Editor, calls a “contemporary learning experience.” The Interface series is a resource that effectively reflects the skills and habits of current students living in an increasingly wired world. “In an inquiry-based classroom, we see the teacher's role as that of facilitator and focused guide who is sometimes a co-learner and co-investigator with the students. Today’s students learn best when their teachers see them as explorers, cognitive apprentices, and knowledge builders,” says Joan Green.

Interactive tasks in the student books are designed to enhance literacy and 21st century skills, including creativity, interpersonal skills, perspective taking, argumentation and advocacy, and media and technology literacy. The online materials include a suite of web-based tools, rich multimedia content, and the chance for students to personalize their learning.

The Textbook Excellence Awards, or “Textys,” are awarded by the Text and Academic Authors Association in order to recognize excellence in educational resources.
