CommonWealth One partners with Alexandria Times advertisers to contribute to The Child & Family

May 13, 2011 - PRLog -- CommonWealth One Federal Credit Union has partnered with the Alexandria Times to fund their April “Cause of the Month”, The Child & Family Network Centers.  Other businesses who also contributed last month include the Alexandria Convention & Visitors Association, Hampton Inn & Suites, Chadwick’s, Old Town Transit & Dash and Fox Searchlight Pictures.  

The Alexandria Times “Cause of the Month” charity donations are funded by the variety of businesses who advertise with the paper during the month.  CommonWealth One has a strong commitment to supporting the communities they serve and the members who live there.  They also support a variety of other local charities throughout the year including the Children’s Miracle Network, Walk to Fight Breast Cancer, and Community Partners for Children.

The Child & Family Network Centers
Founded in 1984, The Child and Family Network Centers (CFNC) was created by a group of neighborhood mothers whose children were failing kindergarten.  The original preschool employed one teacher, and was located in a small office space. They have since expanded to provide free, accredited preschool and comprehensive family support services at six locations to over 204 at-risk children and their families each year. Their mission is "to provide caring, high-quality, free education and related services to at-risk children and their families in their own neighborhoods in order to prepare and empower them for success in school and life."
