Kelly Preston of Real Dogs Don't Whisper Guest Appearance

May 13, 2011 - PRLog -- Kelly Preston, author of Real Dogs Don't Whisper, will be making a guest appearance at Dog Days of Hollister fundraising event.  The event is Saturday May 21st, from 10:00am to 4:00pm Dunne Park - West and Sixth Streets, Hollister, CA 95023.  Kelly will be available for book signing and questions during the event.  

During the event, prizes will be awarded to the dog who: has the best bark, is so ugly they’re cute, has the “waggiest” tail, looks so much like you it’s crazy and does the funniest pet trick. The pooch parade costume contest will award prizes for the best duo or group in costume and most unique costume. They will also crown the King and Queen of Dog Days!

In addition to the competitions, a variety of dog and pet-related groups and services will be at the event.  There will be a “Rescue Row” as well as many breed specific groups. In addition, numerous doggie demonstrations happening throughout the day including, herding, protection dog, obedience, rally, and many others. Also, offering Canine Good Citizen testing.

About the authors:

Kelly Preston is, first and foremost, an animal lover. Raised on a ten-acre property in a small town in Pennsylvania, she grew up with horses, rabbits, and - of course - dogs. When she left home after college, she acquired Gizmo, an irresistible Lhasa Apso that started her on a journey full of joys and sorrows, hopes and tribulations, frustrations, endless lessons in patience, and above all else, love. All of this has come at the hands (more precisely the paws) of Gizmo, Betty Boop, Buffy, Carla Mae, and the inimitable Mr. MaGoo.

Mr. MaGoo is a nine-year-old Lhasa Apso and the book's co-creator and co-writer. He is, in his own words, "the alpha and omega of all dogs - in the cutest and sparkiest, most fun-loving package ever." Ignoring Kelly's persistent eye-rolling, Mr. MaGoo has forged ahead with this project in an attempt to, as he puts it, "present the facts from a dog's perspective.
