Welbeck Group man goes 500 miles for the Stroke Association

May 13, 2011 - PRLog -- This year, Philip Legrand from wealth management and financial services provider, Welbeck Group, is going 500 miles for The Stroke Association.

Philip’s challenge will see him running, cycling, swimming and walking a total of 500 miles in events including the London to Paris 24 cycle ride and the Athens Marathon on 13 November. On 22 May, Philip’s journey begins on a bike ride across every bridge of the River Thames.

“I lost my granddad in January, following some huge strokes and lots of mini-strokes,” said Philip. “In the same month, my housemate and best friend’s girlfriend, Hayley Hobbs, died tragically in a car accident. Before this, my best friend, Tom St. George, died in a car accident close to the site that Hayley lost her life. I want to celebrate their lives and help raise money for a great cause.”

As Philip explained, choosing the 500-mile target was an arbitrary decision: “My housemate, Chris Nops, suggested it. And I knew it was something I had to do. It’s not just about raising money. It’s about remembering and respecting the lives of three amazing people.”
