Iconic, 70’s, Post-Punk band The Fall performs for The Playground at exclusive London show at KOKO

On June 1st London based Promoters The Playground are set to host an exclusive event for 1970’s post-punk heroes, The Fall, at Camden’s KOKO club. With 33 years of success under their belts, these guys certainly won’t disappoint.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - May 13, 2011 - Of all the late-'70s punk and post-punk bands, none are said to be longer-lived or more prolific than The Fall, having been known to always push boundaries, and are never afraid to experiment;  Famously described as “always different, always the same” by BBC Radio 1 DJ John Peel, they have always maintained their cult status over the decades with an ever-evolving style that still maintains a foundation of jagged guitars, sing-speak vocals, and keyboards to create experimental, abrasive and dense musical cacophony.

Charismatic front-man Mark E. Smith can be held responsible for inspiring a generation of artists from Sonic Youth to The Happy Mondays, and still today the band are hailed as the fore-fathers of the Post-Punk movement. Without these guys as an influence, it’s hard to say what might have happened to British music over the past three decades as The Fall’s ongoing releases continue to become iconic as part of British rock history.

Support for The Fall comes in the form of post-punk-avant-rockers Scumbag Philosopher who are finally set to release their debut album ‘It Means Nothing So It Means Nothing’ on the June 13th.

Signed to the painfully hip US label, Words on Music, Scumbag Philosopher have already released two singles in the run up to the release of their album later in June. Their recent eponymous first single ‘Scumbag Philosopher’ received support from John Kennedy and Stuart Maconie, with Artrocker Radio giving the band generous airtime on Resonance FM. The release of their second single ‘God Is Dead So I Listen To Radiohead’ has been building the bands following with features in Room Thirteen and Artrocker Magazines.

Bringing the origins of a post-punk together with a modern day version of the genre, The Fall and Scumbag Philosopher are ready to make a scene at this exclusive London show.

Doors will open at 7.00pm and tickets are available at www.theplayground.co.uk
