May 12, 2011 - PRLog -- The American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) has inducted Ropers Majeski Kohn & Bentley (RMKB) Partner Richard Charnley as a member into its Los Angeles Chapter.  Charnley is the seventh attorney from RMKB to be elected into the prestigious association, which is by nomination only and is restricted to trial lawyers of high personal character and honorable reputation with a high number of qualifying jury trials.

"On behalf of the firm, I congratulate Richard on this achievement," said Rick Wilson, firmwide managing partner.  "Membership in ABOTA signifies that a lawyer has not only shown courage and skill in taking matters to trial but, perhaps more importantly, that he or she has earned the highest respect of peers, adversaries and judges along the way.  This induction supports what clients, colleagues and peers alike have long known about Richard: he is a tenacious leader, a fearless advocate and a skilled professional."

A member of RMKB’s Entertainment Practice Group, Charnley has practiced law for 33 years and is widely regarded as one of the top trial attorneys in Hollywood.  He has counseled a long list of celebrities, television networks, movie studios, producers, insurers and other public figures in a range of large scale, highly complex intellectual property, advertising, financing and real estate disputes.  Regularly sought out for his legal commentary, Charnley has appeared on such programs as Larry King Live, The Today Show and Entertainment Tonight, and has been quoted in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and Vanity Fair, among others.

Charnley received his J.D. from Pepperdine University School of Law (1976) and his B.A. from the University of California, Irvine (1970).  He earned his M.F.A. from the University of Southern California (1986).
