Appliance Repair Palm Harbor Florida Specialists Address the Fix-it or Nix-it Question

How to decide if an appliance is worth repairing or should be replaced

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - May 12, 2011 - Palm Harbor, FL – Appliance Repair Palm Harbor Florida Specialist, Lance Kimball, addresses the fix-it or nix-it question.  “With the shape of our economy, consumers are doing all they can to save money,” said Kimball.  “We often have customers who insist an appliance be repaired when we know that it should be replaced.  Though some companies welcome this business, we have walked away from many of these service calls.  Our reputation is important to us and so is the best interest of the customer.”

Here are some of the factors to consider when deciding to fix-it or nix-it:

Nix it (replace) if the appliance is more than 8 years old with a history of poor performance and break downs

Nix it if the appliance repair cost is more than 50% of the cost of a new appliance

Nix it if the warranty has expired, or the appliance is in rough shape, scratched, dented and rusty

Nix it if appliance parts are hard to find or require a long waiting period

On the other hand, even if the appliance is old, the warranty is expired, and the repair cost is high, some factors may make appliance repair more economically sound, such as:

Fix it if the appliance is a high-end product with a good performance record

Fix it if the appliance if the repair will result in another 3 to 5 years performance

It could be in the customer’s best interest to repair the appliance if they are very attached to the appliance, happy with past performance, used to its features, it looks good with surrounding décor, and is likely to continue to perform properly.

Lance Kimball, owner of Appliance Repair Palm Harbor Specialists, and his service technicians will give their customer an honest opinion before performing an expensive appliance repair service that is not in their best interest.  On the other hand, they will do their best to repair an appliance to save the customer the cost and hassle associated with replacing it.

Though new appliances have more time and energy saving features which would tempt consumers to buy new ones, many are hesitant to spend the money.  They prefer to keep their old appliances working as long as possible.

Recognizing the need for dependable, honest appliance repair service, Lance Kimball opened Appliance Repair Specialists to provide home appliance service for most major brands including Whirlpool, Maytag, Kitchen Aid, Jenn Air, Amana, Admiral, magic Chef, Electrolux, Frigidaire, Tappan and Samsung, to name a few.  Visit http://www.appliancerepairpalmharborflorida.com/ to learn more.
