A Leader is for all Seasons

May 12, 2011 - PRLog -- It is human to feel desperate in the face of relentless tragedies befalling one. There are people, however, who can make themselves desperate at the drop of a hat.  When this happens, they invariably seek solace in some diversion. This escapism presents a facade that is deceptively satisfying to the sufferer.  A surprising thing in all this is that there are many “leaders” who indulge in this fatal practice. It is found that they are quite capable of alleviating the sufferings of others by logic and natural progression of solution, arrived at with emphatic authority.

It is this leadership quality that stands apart among ordinary mortals.  People take recourse to escapism when they are unhappy. The activities they get themselves immersed in can be some harmless pastime like sports or watching a movie. Some embark upon eating all the time and lapse into what is called bulimia. Still others, the most vulnerable of them all, go off without an aim into unknown territory and even before they know it, become addicts of drugs of various kinds. Hundreds must be dying from addiction to drugs. What is saddening is that they could have been led a constructive path by some authoritative leader.

A leader here should not be confused with a consultant. To be sure, a consultant can be a provider of comfort but he need not necessarily be a leader. Unless you are a leader, the victim of drugs may pretend to listen to you or even be sincere but soon the spell would wear off. The impact of his lessons, more often than not, will not last after a time. Not so in the case of a leader.  His very air will have an effect that would make the sufferer realize his futile ways and resolve to mend his ways.
