Innovative test-drive event will yield much-needed money for activities club

Concordia, MO – Meyer Motors is bringing Ford Motor Company’s innovative Drive One 4 UR School program to the Concordia community in an effort to raise up to $6,000 for Concordia High School. For every person who test-drives a Ford vehicle at Meyer Motors on May 13, Meyer Motors and Ford Motor Company will donate $20 to Concordia High School. The funds will go towards the school’s activities club.

“This is a great opportunity for the community to show their support for our young people at Concordia High School,” said Nancy Deatherage of Meyer Motors. “Participants will have the opportunity to test drive some of our latest vehicles and experience the latest in safety technology – all while raising money for the school.” The event, which will be held from 10:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M., will feature the Ford Explorer, Focus, Edge, F-150, and other available models.

Since the start of Ford’s Drive One 4 UR School program in 2007, more than 275,000 test-drives at more than 1,500 events have generated over $5 million in donations for high schools nationwide. Locally, Meyer Motors participated in Ford’s Drive One 4 UR School program in 2009 and 2010 and raised over $12,000.

In addition to raising much-needed revenue for high school extracurricular activities, the program gives participants the chance to experience Ford Motor Company’s exciting new vehicles and leading safety technologies, including:

•   MyKey™, a system that allows parents to limit a vehicle’s top speed and audio volume to encourage safe driving behavior in teens;
•   SYNC®, the fully integrated, in-vehicle voice-activated communications and entertainment system, updated with a “Do Not Disturb” button to block incoming calls and text messages and improved text message read-back capabilities so drivers can keep their eyes on the road and hands on the wheel;
•   Blind Spot Information System (BLIS™) with cross traffic alert, which uses radar to check the blind spot and helps notify the driver of approaching traffic when backing out of a parking spot; and,
•   Active Park Assist, a technology that helps drivers position the vehicle for parallel parking and then steer it into a parking spot without touching the steering wheel.
•   SmartGauge™ with EcoGuide is a unique instrument cluster designed to give hybrid owners a more connected driving experience by coaching them to further maximize the fuel efficiency of their hybrid vehicle.

With four powertrains—the most extensive powertrain makeover in its 62-year history, and the first EcoBoost™ truck engine, the 2011 Ford F-150 delivers best-in-class power and up to 20 percent better fuel economy. Available with SYNC® and Ford Work Solutions™ connective technology and class-exclusive features like electric power-assisted steering (EPAS), the 2011 Ford F-150 offers more choice and capability than ever.

To participate, please visit Meyer Motors between 10:00 A.M. and 6:00 P.M. on May 13.

Participants must be 18 or older and have a valid driver’s license. There is a limit of one test-drive per household.
