Follow on Google News | Get Ready To Grill Out With SHARESHARE, a nonprofit food buying club open to everyone, has some extraordinary deals on delicious items for the grill this summer.
By: Ben LeFort, SHARE Wisconsin SHARE is a nonprofit volunteer-run food buying club that’s been helping families save 30-50% on groceries for over 25 years. There are no income limits or eligibility guidelines to purchase food through SHARE. Families place orders at the beginning of the month and pick their food up at a location near them toward the end of the month. Every month of the year, SHARE offers a selection of frozen meats, fresh fruits and vegetables, canned and dry goods, convenience items, organic produce and more. Members pick and choose the items they want for their family a la carte, or they can also select from two assortments designed for medium- and smaller-sized households. In June, SHARE’s order form is offering several grill-friendly specials, including 1.7 lbs. of ready-to-cook tray-packed chicken drums for $2.10, 3 lbs. of 80% lean hormone- and antibiotic-free ground beef for $11.95, and a 10-lb. box of jumbo pork and beef franks (6 per pound) for only $14.00. There are over 200 SHARE food pick-up locations throughout Wisconsin, the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, northern Illinois and northeastern Minnesota. Each of those locations is run by a crew of volunteers dedicated to serving their communities. In total, over 1,000 volunteers make SHARE’s low prices possible. SHARE distributes supermarket quality foods that are sourced on the wholesale market, just like a grocery store chain. None of the food is donated or government commodity. In addition to its dedicated volunteer workforce, SHARE’s volume purchasing power enables it to obtain outstanding prices for its members. SHARE is now accepting orders for pick-up in June. Families can order online at www.sharewi.org through June 12, or they can call toll-free 800-548-2124 to order through June 10. Pick-up will be held on Saturday, June 25 at most SHARE sites. SHARE’s online ordering system accepts debit and credit card payments, while the local volunteer team and main office can also accept cash, check, money order and Quest/Link/Bridge (food stamp) cards. # # # SHARE's nonprofit, volunteer-run food buying club helps families save 30-50% on supermarket quality food.
