May 10, 2011 - PRLog -- Performance Transformation (Venice, FL) will be showcasing their Equine Assisted Professional Development programs at the 2011 ASTD conference in Orlando, May 23-25, 2011.  Their customized programs include "Transformational Leadership Development", "Adaptive Team Building", "Igniting Breakthrough Sales", and "The Emotionally Resilient Nurse".

Grounded by more than two decades of real-world executive experience, the workshops and programs integrate constructs from Applied Behavioral Economics, competencies in Emotional Intelligence, with recent research insights from performance psychology and neurophysiology. The workshops are delivered through ground-based, Equine Facilitated Learning exercises that enable participants to experience all four modalities of the Learning Style Inventory.

The exhibit will include appearances by Magic and Aladdin, miniature, highly trained therapy horses. These diminutive horses are being provided by The Gentle Carousel Therapy Horses of High Springs, FL; an all-volunteer non-profit organization that provides therapeutic visits to a variety of facilities, such as children’s hospitals and convalescent homes. Magic was recently named by TIME/CNN as one of History's Ten Most Courageous Animals.  NewsWeek named Magic as one of 2010's Ten Most Heroic Animals.

As prey animals, horses are highly sensitive to their environment.  They process emotions as information as part of their primary survival mechanisms.  Acting without judgement, the horse becomes an emotional mirror for humans.  As they pick up on and reflect our emotional presence, powerful leadership, teamwork, and working relationship metaphors inevitably arise. The exercises enable professionals to reflect on how they connect, communicate, and interact with others.  The immediate, agenda-free feedback the horse provides allows professionals to see themselves and their behavior in a fresh light, unshaded by the opinions of other people.
