Alpha Course Launches At Salisbury City Church

May 9, 2011 - PRLog -- Alpha balloons, drinks mats & posters were out as the Summer Alpha Course was launched at Salisbury City Church on Sunday.

Rather than see a decline in church attendance, Salisbury City Church is a fast-growing church, bucking the trend of dropping attendance seen in many UK churches.  Salisbury City Church is seeing new visitors coming along every Sunday.  The church was established in 2003 by a small group of 20 individuals and now has a regular congregation of around 130.

“It has been really exciting”, says Steve Plant, who runs the Alpha course, “We’ve seen well over a hundred people come through Alpha now.  During these uncertain times, people are seeking answers to life’s most difficult questions.  It’s great to see people relaxing, making friends and being able to ask questions in a pressure-free environment”

Simon Redmill, the church leader, says “Alpha is a great opportunity to find out more about what Christians believe.  It offers an opportunity to explore the meaning of life in a relaxed, non-threatening and enjoyable environment.  The course includes a meal, followed by a short talk and an opportunity for discussion.  It’s a great place to ask any question, no question is too simple or too hostile”.

Salisbury City Church meets each Sunday at 10.30 at South Wilts Grammar School, Stratford Road.  All are welcome.  

The next Alpha course starts with a meal on Tuesday 17th May 2011 and is being held at Greentrees Primary School, Bishopdown weekly at 7.15pm.   The course considers questions such as Why does God allow suffering? What is the point of life? And What happens when we die?
