May 6, 2011 - PRLog -- Freedom Press announced today the release of J.L. Leclerc’s novel “The Price of Freedom. The Libertarian scifi novel is now on sale as an ebook at amazon.com and smashwords.com. Though set in the not to distant future the story takes its themes straight out of today’s headlines.

The author claims to look at many of today’s issues from both sides of the libertarian fence. “I examine the worlds present financial crises, the growing income disparity between the worlds richest and the middle class and the fact that many, even in democracies feel disenfranchised,” say Leclerc. The book also examines issues like gun control and the decriminalization of narcotics.

Another theme explored is how the rights of special interest groups are protected when their political party doesn’t hold a majority in the legislature. The author claims to draw a line that makes the term, liberty and democracy an oxymoron. This will probably confuse those outside of libertarian circles. The story also draws parallels between a future society and a pre Revolutionary War America.

And for the traditional scifi fan the author throws in some high tech, military scifi and some old fashion space opera, in an epic type tale with an ensemble cast of characters. The ebook is available at http://www.amazon.com/The-Price-of-Freedom-ebook/dp/B004Y... and  http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/57179
