May 5, 2011 - PRLog -- [Oakville, ON]- As the bell rings for recess, at New Central Public School, students won't put down their school work to go outside.  What has caught their attention, you may ask?  Robots.

In an attempt to bring more fun, hands-on projects to students across Canada, artist Kristen Keller invites students to get creative, and have fun in building robots, out of recyclables, that will move around, and create designs with their feet.

"I have such a blast watching the students assemble their robots, and I love seeing those "a-ha" moments, as they begin to understand the principles behind why the robots move" says Kristen of the students she teaches.  "I find that by posing challenges, such as creating a switch, or getting the robot to draw in circles versus straight lines, gets the students thinking more independently, and encourages the love of learning kids should have forever."

Keller teaches the Artistic Robot workshops through a non-profit organization she runs, entitled the "Coast-to-Coast Robot Tour", and since October of last year, she has taught over 2050 students across the country how to make these fun, robotic creatures.

When asked about the future of the Tour, and where she will go from here, Keller stated, "the Tour has been a great success, and we are uncertain as of yet if we will continue to tour the entire country next year.  One thing we know for sure though is that we will definitely be bringing more new  and fun workshops to schools, because we see how much they benefit the students, in terms of learning efficiency and confidence levels."

You can find out more information about where Keller and her Tour is through the Tour website http://www.RobotBeaverBus.webs.com, as well as new programs coming out, and purchasable workshop kits, through her new website directed to help teachers bring more fun into the classroom at http://www.TeachingWithFun.com.
