Pop-Artist Sean D'Anconia to launch new paintings at LAB ART, Nation's Largest Street Art Gallery

May 3, 2011 - PRLog -- Sean D’Anconia  has built a seductive visual universe by marrying cult-cinema & animation to a wild pop-art aesthetic.  Born in Montreal, Canada, D’Anconia has established himself through high-profile creative projects for Warner Bros., King Features, Bob Marley, General Mills, etc. along with his recent "9 Lives of the Kitty" art show celebrating the iconic Hello Kitty.

His new series of mixed-media paintings, including a highly anticipated Marilyn Monroe original, will be launched at the grand opening of LAB ART as part of a wide-ranging exhibition bringing together works from across a variety of mediums, including painting, sculpture, drawings, photography and installations.

Curated under the watchful eye of former fashion designer Iskander Lemseffer, LAB ART's collection showcases a movement that will deservedly make its mark in contemporary art history. The grand opening debuts a massive exhibition by some of the most notorious artists including celebrity favorites: Alec Monopoly, famous for his paradoxical spins of the Monopoly man, and D'Anconia, whose virtual universe called "Majestyland" is the setting for faux-films & adverts, created in his signature Pop-Fusion aesthetic.

Other highlights include the gallery bar‐top painted by urban muralist Gregory Siff—nown for his 6th Street Mural at The Standard Downtown, and a life‐size cow statue titled "Cheshire Cow" created by artist Rabi and inspired by the Cheshire Cat. LAB ART's official launch lithograph, designed by D'Anconia,  marks the gallery's opening and features a collage of the various contributor's works.
