P2Rx FunWalk Hits the Streets of Detroit

May 3, 2011 - PRLog -- The annual P2Rx FunWalk is back after a year long hiatus.  The P2Rx FunWalk is an annual event sponsored by the Pollution Prevention Resource Exchange (P2Rx).  The event coincides with the National Environmental Sustainability Summit (NESS).  

Every year P2Rx selects a charity in the host’s city for the proceeds from the walk to be donated.  This year’s charity is WARM Training Center, a 30 year old nonprofit organization serving Southeast Michigan.  WARM Training Center promotes the development of resource efficient, affordable, healthy homes and communities through education, training, and technical assistance. WARM is a 2010 Michigan Green Leader and provides energy education, green jobs training, technical assistance, and serves as a state recognized energy demonstration center.

The P2Rx FunWalk will commence at 7:15 a.m. on June 8 at the Westin Book Cadillac in downtown Detroit.   The FunWalk will take participants on a 1.60 mile walk around downtown Detroit.  Participants will pass by several Detroit landmarks including Fox Theater, Comerica Park, Ford Field, and Greektown.

The Pollution Prevention Resource Exchange (P2Rx™) is a national network of regional centers that advance pollution prevention as a cornerstone of sustainability.  These centers all provide pollution prevention information, networking opportunities and other services to States, local governments and technical assistance providers in their region. The centers represent a broad constituency, including state and local pollution prevention programs, manufacturing extension partnerships, cooperative extension and nonprofit organizations. The diversity of audience contributes to an overall breadth of P2 information and opportunities.
