Ges Spring Clean Event

Electronics collection drive takes place in georgetown

May 3, 2011 - PRLog -- Georgetown, KY (May 2, 2011) – Electronics recycler Global Environmental Services will be hosting its very own electronics recycling drive. The company will be collecting all manner of electronics from computers and printers to telephones and fax machines. The event is scheduled to take place from 8am to 4pm on May 14th at the GES headquarters at 109 Triport Road in Georgetown, KY.

“These events are really important to raise public awareness,” says Kenny Gravitt, CEO of Global Environmental Services. “So often people are not aware of the hazards this type of waste can elicit on the environment if it is not dealt with in a responsible and ethical manner.”

This is an opportunity for the people of Georgetown and the surrounding area to clean out their garages, attics, and closets of unwanted electronics. Most people have some type of electronic that they no longer want, but they don’t know what to do with it. GES will take their unwanted electronics—most of them for free. There will be a small $10.00 charge for TVs and CRT monitors to cover the expense of recycling the hazardous materials they contain (such as mercury).

In the last several weeks, GES has participated in about six different awareness raising e-recycling events.  “This happens a lot around this time of year.  Earth Day is in April and it tends to make both people and companies more environmentally aware,” reports Gravitt. “We’ve been busy working with other organizations; we finally said, ‘Let’s put together our own event.’  It just makes sense to do it here at our facility.”

For information regarding materials that are accepted or questions regarding the event, please contact Alexa Potocki at 502-570-8545 or alexa.potocki@gesrecycles.com  or visit the GES website at www.gesrecycles.com
