By: Christine Saggese The PARD is a nonprofit trade association that acts as the voice for the rent-to-own industry in Pennsylvania. Every year, the organization contacts a recommended school in the state that is in need of basic computer equipment and other technology. PARD members then review the school’s wish list and decide on several requested items to provide. “Donating is important to us because we want to support and give back to the communities in which we live and work,” said Sandi Frye, PARD president and Premier Rental-Purchase franchise owner. “The way technology is today, even kindergarten students are learning on computers. Our goal is to help those schools that don’t receive adequate funding to be able to keep up with technology for the good of their students.” “Our ‘Computers for Kidz’ program is not only an investment in the community, but it’s a promise to continually encourage students and improve education,” said Scott McHale, ColorTyme franchisee and PARD’s newly elected secretary. “I think the donation will improve the way students learn today and help open doors for them in the future.” For next year’s “Computer for Kidz” donation, PARD members voted to provide aid to a school in Philadelphia.
