The Italian Woman: A Fiat 500 Piece of Art

May 2, 2011 - PRLog -- Take a peek at a piece of artwork made by the renowned artist, Malangatan Valente Ngwenya, who passed away on January 5th, 2011. In spite of this tragic event, this amazingly done up 500, named the Italian Woman, will be auctioned off to the Malangatana Foundation, which assists Mozambicans in need.

A spokesman for the foundation said, "The recent death of Malangatana did not allow him to personally introduce his "Italian Woman" to the world. That task instead fell to those of us that were closely involved with the project and, in a small way, allowed us to pay homage to an all-time great Africa artist, an icon in the Mozambican cultural landscape and, above all, an extraordinary human being.”

This iconic Fiat 500 is based on a Fiat 500 1.4. Every side is decorated with a nature-inspired theme with the rear and dash board feature Malangatana’s signature embossed look in aluminum. This beauty is being featured for the opening of a new Fiat and Alfa Romeo dealership in Maputo, Mozambique. The car is to be auctioned online between May 5th – June 6th, 2011.
