Follow on Google News | Michigan Chevrolet Dealers Celebrate 547 MPGs; No, That’s Not a TypoWith gas prices still rising, buying a fuel-efficient vehicle is becoming more important to customers. Michigan Chevrolet dealers have learned from real owner testimonials that months can pass before they need to visit the pump again.
By: Porta Press The following are two statements from current Chevrolet Volt owners, sharing their experience of high fuel economy: “I am surprised how infrequently I go to the gas station. It’s become a game to achieve as many miles as I can in EV mode,” said Steve Wojtanek, a Volt buyer in Boca Raton, Fla. “I have made it my goal to drive as efficiently as possible and I am seeing the results, with more than 3,417 miles under my belt – of which 2,225 are EV miles.” Wojtanek is averaging 122 mpg while visiting a gas station about once a month. “On April 11, I had to buy gas for the first time since filling up on Jan. 9,” said Volt owner Gary Davis of Greenville, S.C. “In my Volt I’ve driven 4,600 miles on 8.4 gallons of gas. That’s an impressive 547 mpg that I am achieving with my Volt.” Not only was the Chevrolet Volt created to be stylish and comfortable to fit the styles of owners, but new technology was built to allow for the fuel efficiency to increase to almost unbelievable amounts. General Motors’ Voltec software gives the Chevrolet Volt an innovative rechargeable hybrid technology that allows owners to drive the Volt 20 to 40 miles on an electric charge with its 16-kWh lithium-ion battery. When the charge runs out, the Volt can travel on average 300 miles one tank of gas. With the ability to travel long distances before needing to get gas, Michigan Chevrolet dealers are starting to hear customer testimonials of their personal experiences. According to a GM press release, Cristi Landy, Volt marketing Director, said that Volt owners have driven 800 miles between fill-ups since the launch in December, and in March owners averaged 1,000 miles. Michigan Chevrolet dealers may be impressed by these numbers as most other vehicles cannot compare. Already the Chevrolet Volt has won three prestigious awards which include: • North American Car of the Year, by 2010 NACOTY Jurors • 2011 Motor Trend Car of the Year, by Motor Trend magazine • 2011 Green Car Breakthrough Award, by Edmunds.com So far the Chevrolet Volt seems to be exactly what it was designed to be for customers: efficient. As owners continue to push the limits of the Volt, interested buyers will learn from real-life experiences just how far the Chevrolet Volt can travel and how few trips to the gas station are required.
