What is fractional resurfacing? This is achieved using an Erbium YAG laser (2940nm) traditionally used by surgeons for completely resurfacing skin. Instead of directing the entire beam on the face the laser beam is split into smaller pixels of light. It makes small thermal injuries to the skin. Water in the skin forms the lasers target and it ablates the skin as it comes into contact with it. These tiny thermal injuries cause the skin to respond by renewing itself to repair the surface. This is independent of skin colour or type

The surface result is new more youthful looking skin without the lines and imperfections such as open pores that existed before treatment. The face is the most commonly treated area for both men and women, there have been great results on acne scaring which is another common problem for both men and women of this age group. Early trials are also proving its effectiveness for Melasma. Combined with the other laser therapies offered by the Harmony this system really has got it all.

The patient appeal is the pain free treatment which leaves the skin glowing after treatment with a mild sunburn effect. Make up can be applied immediately after treatment and just very basic moisturisers are recommended for 7-10 days post treatment.
