April 30, 2011 - PRLog -- You may think that installing tiles on countertops is a big job and not really be sure whether it will work or not. Tile countertops in kitchens and even bathrooms have become more popular over the last few years not only for the design style they offer but because they are practical too and a good solution for countertops.
Ceramic and porcelain tiles are often the most popular tiles used on kitchensand bathroom countertops and the larger tiles are the most popular and the most common.  One of the reasons larger tiles are used is to limit the amount of grout which makes cleaning of the countertops easier and more hygienic.  Kitchen tiles,  especially those installed on countertops should always be sealed, this protects them from any spillages and stains and also makes the tiles easier to clean and maintain.
In general kitchen tiles on kitchen countertops are far better being either a decorative style or darker shades, darker shades are far better for maintenance and will not easily show up water marks and spillages.
Other tiles suitable for kitchen countertops are granite which is a natural beautiful tile and is ideal for kitchen countertops. Granite tile is strong, durable and as long as they have been sealed, they will last the test of time. Granite tiles are not the cheapest option, although the cost of granite has come down over the last couple of years.
Wood countertops are also very popular and will add to the real kitchen cottage feel, wood countertops will almost certainly need sealing and the advantage of wood is that it can be re sanded as needed over time.
Marble tiles are also a popular countertop tile but again as with granite are not the most cheapest of options. Marble tiles will however add real elegance and style to any kitchen and will give a real glamorous feel. Marble is certainly beautiful but can be a little tedious to maintain and can show up marks and stains more easily than other tile choices.
Stainless steel is also an option for kitchen countertops and is a material that is both heat proof and easy to clean. Stainless steel can work out quite expensive and is better suited to the more modern feel. The disadvantages to stainless steel are that it will scratch easily and is more expensive than other kitchen countertop choices.
The most important aspect of any choice you make for kitchen countertops is maintenance, this is one area that you will want easy maintenance but also consider a material that suits your design choices and styles.
